Free Summer Bus Rides for Laredo Youth
New for Summer 2025 – Free, Unlimited Rides for Kids Ages 6–17!
El Metro Transit is proud to introduce its first-ever Kids on the Go! Summer Youth Transportation Program, designed to keep kids active, connected, and on the move during the summer months.
From June 3 through August 31, 2025, all youth ages 6 to 17 can ride El Metro Fixed Route Buses for FREE—making it easier for families to access summer programs, parks, libraries, pools, and more.
How It Works
When:
June 3 – August 31, 2025
Who Rides Free:
Youth ages 6–17 with a valid ID
Where:
All El Metro Fixed Route Buses
Note: Children under age 12 must ride with an adult.
Accepted Forms of ID
To ride for free, youth must present one of the following:
- An active Parks and Recreation ID card
- A library card
- An official El Metro Kids on the Go! ID card
To apply for a Kids on the Go! ID card, youth must provide one of the following:
- A current school ID
- A recent report card
- A current class schedule
Program Benefits
This program supports youth enrolled in summer activities through the City of Laredo and its partner agencies, providing transportation access to:
- Summer camps
- Educational programs
- Community events
- Libraries and recreational centers
