El Metro will be hosting their 1st Annual Walk.Bike.Ride. Event that will take place on July 10th at El Metro Transit Center on 1301 Farragut from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. We are inviting the community to join us for several unveiling events. El Metro will be having music for all ages, free popcorn and waters, food truck vendors, and a contest for “The top 3 best Bike lights”. Council Member District 8 Roberto Balli will host awards for two different categories, which consist of Adult, and Kiddy Category.
The campaign that El Metro will be introducing goes in line with the new Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan that was introduced to the City of Laredo in September 2017. We are encouraging people to either Walk or Bike to your bus stop and Ride to your Destination. Walk Bike Ride is an initiative towards making it easier for people to get around Laredo without driving your vehicles to and from your destinations.
How does Laredo benefit from Public Transportation?
- It helps reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gases & other pollutants
- Helps reduce traffic congestion
- Helps riders save an average of $9,000 on car ownership cost a year
