El Metro Transit is monitoring the Gulf of Mexico tropical developments of weather expected to impact Texas with heavy rain over the weekend. El Metro and El Lift customers should plan ahead and allow extra time for their commutes, especially during heavy rain periods of time where low floor buses and vans cannot travel in flooded or closed to the traffic streets.
Delays for Fixed Route and detours to avoid flooded streets might occur “We expect there might be weather challenges over the next several days. We are asking our customers to monitor news and City of Laredo issued notices only to plan ahead for your transportation needs,” said Claudia San Miguel, El Metro General Manager. “Please be patient with our Operators and know that precautions are been taken to safely transport each passenger to their destination”.
Riders are asked to be careful when boarding and when reaching a seat inside the buses during rainy conditions because the Bus and Van’s access stairs, ramps, and floors will get wet and very slippery.
El Metro Administration will continue to monitor the weather and to take direction from City of Laredo Emergency Response Team under Fire Chief Steve Landin.
