EL Metro Transit #Sound the Horn
El Metro Transit is inviting the community to join efforts in launching our first #SoundtheHorn – a coordinated effort to simultaneously sound their vehicle horns at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 11, to honor and say thank you to all public transportation employees working through the coronavirus outbreak and other essential workers across our City.
As a tribute to the essential workers on the front lines of this public health crisis, including public transportation workers, all El Metro Buses and El Lift Vans running in service across Laredo will give two one-second horn blast at 1:30 pm. Heroic public transportation workers continue to provide critical mobility services for other heroic healthcare workers, first responders, childcare workers, grocery store employees, and other heroes who are performing critically essential work during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Thursday, June 11th. 2020 we invite the community to sound their horns or give a thumbs up, upon seeing any Transit Bus, El Lift Van, Bus Stop’s Service Truck or any El Metro Staff vehicles to show support and appreciation for all public transportation employees.
“Our Transit Employees are heroes.” “They are courageously coming to work each day to perform their duties that help provide mobility that is critically important to the City of Laredo during this pandemic. El Metro team is comprised of frontline employees that deserve all the thanks and recognition we can give them right now. This effort is a small but yet powerful and loud way for us to show our appreciation,” said General Manager Claudia San Miguel from El Metro
